Constitution amendments

Members will recall that at the 2020 AGM proposed amendments to the Club’s Constitution were referred to an ad hoc committee comprising representative of the outgoing and incoming General Committee and some volunteer members. This ad hoc committee were to review the proposed amendments and agree, on behalf of all club members, which changes were to be adopted and which not. Thereafter, the agreed amendments were to be forwarded to the Trustees for adoption as the Club’s revised Constitution.

The ad hoc committee met on 20 November 2020 and the minutes recording the decisions made can be found here. The revised proposed amendments to the Constitution, which can be found here, were then forwarded to the Trustees. However, the Constitution requires that any changes made to it must be agreed by a two-thirds majority of members. At the 2020 AGM member’s voted by 19 in favour and 14 against for the revised amendments being adopted by the Trustees; this margin of agreement is less than the required two-thirds.

Therefore, the revised proposed amendments must be tabled for adoption at a general meeting of members and for this purpose an Extra-ordinary General Meeting will be called on a date to be advised.
